Dr.
ès sc. Diego Kuonen, PhD in Statistics, founded
Statoo Consulting in 2001, where he serves as CEO, applied
statistician and data miner.
 |
Dr. Diego Kuonen graduated in 1998
from the `Institute of
Mathematics' at the `Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne'
(EPFL) in Switzerland with a Master's degree in Applied Statistics
(`MSc in Mathematics').
In 2001 he received, under the supervision of
Professor A. C. Davison, a PhD degree in Statistics (`Doctor in Science EPF' -
the highest degree delivered at the EPFL). Both degrees were
obtained for outstanding works in applied statistics, mainly in the
interface of statistics and computer science.
He has extensive experience in applying statistical thinking, statistics
and data mining within large and small
companies in Switzerland and throughout Europe, resulting in fruitful
collaborations and published articles in several peer-reviewed journals.
In addition, he also has several years of experience in teaching and training.
He is or has been, for example,
lecturer in applied statistics at the EPFL and at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
His professional memberships include:
- `American Statistical Association' (ASA);
- `Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on
Knowledge Discovery in Data and Data Mining' (ACM SIGKDD);
- `European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics' (ENBIS);
- Fellow of the `Royal Statistical Society' (RSS);
- `Institute of Mathematical Statistics' (IMS);
- `International Biometric Society - Region Österreich-Schweiz' (IBS - ROeS);
- `International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics'
(ISBIS);
- `International Society for Clinical Biostatistics'
(ISCB);
- `R Foundation for Statistical Computing' (R Foundation);
- `Swiss Statistical Society' (SSS) and its Section `Statistics in Business and Industry' (SSS-BI).
Currently, he is also
vice president of the `Swiss Statistical Society' and
president of its Section `Statistics in Business and Industry'.

Dr.
ès sc. Thomas Gsponer, PhD in Statistics, joined Statoo Consulting in 2007 as a
senior consultant in applied statistics.

Dr.
Thomas Gsponer graduated in 2000 from the `Institute of Mathematics'
at the `Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne'
(EPFL) in Switzerland with a Master's degree in Applied Statistics (`MSc in Mathematics').
In 2004 he received, under the supervision of Professor S. Morgenthaler,
a PhD degree in Statistics (`Doctor in Science EPF' -
the highest degree delivered at the EPFL).
In his PhD thesis he worked on the use of quasi Monte Carlo methods for
general state space models - a class of models frequently used for
prediction in a broad field of applications.
In 2004, Dr. Thomas Gsponer
joined Novartis Pharma
in Basel, Switzerland, where he was working as a
trial statistician in early clinical development
(Oncology) and as a senior statistical modeler. He became an expert in
designing Bayesian adaptive phase I cancer trials and gained experience
in the drug development process, clinical trial simulation, decision
analysis and in the use of Bayesian methodology in drug development.
He has extensive experience in applying Bayesian statistics, resulting in fruitful
collaborations and published articles in peer-reviewed journals.
In addition, he has experience in teaching applied statistics.
Dr. Thomas Gsponer uses statistical softwares such as R, S-PLUS, STATISTICA
and WinBUGS.
He is member of various statistical associations.
Additional and detailed information about
Dr. Thomas Gsponer are available upon request.
Besides being Professor at the
`University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland',
Dr.
ès sc. Jacques Zuber, PhD in Statistics,
is since 2004 also an external senior consultant in applied statistics at
Statoo Consulting.
 |
Dr. Jacques Zuber graduated in
1993 from the `Institute of Mathematics' (former `Department of
Mathematics') at the `Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne'
(EPFL) in Switzerland with a Master's degree in Applied Statistics (`MSc in Mathematics').
In 1999 he received, under the supervision of Professor P. E. Nuesch,
a PhD degree in Statistics (`Doctor in Science EPF').
He was an `Honorary Research Fellow'
in La Trobe University, Bundoora, Australia from 1999 to 2000.
Back in Switzerland, he worked as a consultant in applied statistics
at AICOS Technologies in Basel, Switzerland.
Since the beginning of 2002 Dr. Jacques Zuber is Professor at the
`University of Applied
Sciences of Western Switzerland' (`Haute Ecole d'Ingénierie et de
Gestion du Canton de Vaud', HEIG-VD) in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland,
where he teaches applied statistics and probability for engineers.
Dr. Jacques Zuber is member
of various statistical associations.
